A Healthy Home
is a Happy Home. Why Risk it?

Making sure your house has a safe living environment is up to you . Radon is the # 1 cause of lung cancer in non smokers .

How Radon Enters The Home

Radon can enter buildings through cracks and openings in floors, leading to higher levels, especially in basements and lower floors.

New Construction Radon Mitigation

The Active Soil Depressurization system is the most effective way to mitigate radon as well as other soil gas entry into the home.

What is Radon?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas formed by the breakdown of uranium, and is found in all soil and bedrock.

Radon gas is odourless, colourless, and tasteless; so it requires specialized equipment to detect, measure and control.

According to Health Canada, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers, and is 10x more dangerous for children.

Radon gas is present in ALL homes, new and old, and cannot be detected or measured until a home is ready for move-in.
What is the Risk of Radon Exposure?
Radon and radon progeny in the air can be breathed into the lungs where they break down further and emit “alpha particles”. Alpha particles release small bursts of energy absorbed by nearby lung tissue. This results in lung cell death or damage.

When lung cells are damaged, they have the potential to result in cancer when they reproduce. Cancers caused by radioactivity are started by chance and not everyone exposed to radon gas will develop lung cancer. The time between exposure and the onset of the disease is usually many years.

Your risk of developing lung cancer from radon exposure depends on the concentration of radon gas in the air you breathe and the length of time you are exposed.

According to WHO, the World Health Organization, the risk of lung cancer increases by 16 percent per 100 Bq/m3 increase in radon concentration.
Why?

Radon and Real Estate

FORCE RADON SOLUTION LTD, with cooperation from its radon partners, has developed a number of tools and resources for use by the real estate community.

All Nova Scotia homes can have dangerous levels of radon gas. Radon is a colorless and odorless gas that
comes from the soil. The gas can accumulate in the home. When inhaled, its radioactive particles can
damage the lungs. Long-term exposure to radon can lead to lung cancer. Also About 3200 lung cancer deaths each year in Canada.

Radon testing and mitigation are not required during real estate transactions, but testing is highly recommended. FRS recommends a certified radon professional conduct testing during real estate transactions when an unbiased third-party is desired.

Wrote About Us

Good Morning Ryan,
Jane and I wanted to pass on how happy we are with the work you did installing the Radon Mitigation System in our home.
Your work ethic and manner was very professional. Each visit to our house during the planning and installation process you arrived on time and carried out the work efficiently. You explained the process to us in detail every step of the way.
The installation of the radon mitigation system is very neat and tidy. We appreciate that you were able to install the exhaust exit from our utility room. I know that it took a lot of planning on your part to determine if it could be done due to the congestion of other utilities in the small room. Work was completed on time and as quoted regardless of the additional challenges our cramped utility room presented.
We opted to follow your recommendation given to us at your initial visit and obtained a Radon Eye through Amazon to provide us with continuous real-time readings. We really like the peace of mind of knowing where our current Radon levels sit at any given time, and we appreciate your helpful suggestion.
I have attached a screen shot of the graph from our real-time radon detector in which you can clearly see exactly when the mitigation system was turned on. The mitigation system you installed has taken our radon levels to below the lowest point this radon detector has registered with all basement windows open prior to Radon Mitigation System. At the beginning of the graph the peaks are with our basement windows closed at night; and the valleys are windows open during the day. Then, from the first day since you installed the mitigation system our radon levels remain at the lowest they have ever been in our home.
Thank you again for making our home a safer place for our family.
We highly recommend your work, and your company Force Radon Solutions.
